Meg Durkin is the founder of That Blooming Child which offers yoga classes for kids either in the schools, at yoga studios, at a community center, or even for birthday parties.
Meg has completed the Radiant Child Certification and the Finding Inner Peace Children’s Yoga Certification in 2008. She completed a 200 hour yoga training program recognized by the Yoga Alliance with Daniel Orlansky at Yoga of Energy Flow in 2009. In 2011, she completed the Brain Gym 170 course about brain and movement integration for children with special needs and Craig Hanauer’s Every Kid’s Yoga: Teaching Yoga to Children with Special Needs. Meg has also trained with Marsha Wenig from YogaKids and taken YogaEd trainings.
She has a B.A. in American Studies and a M.S. in Library & Information Studies and has worked with children for more than twenty five years in a variety of capacities. She is currently working towards a Masters in Occupational Therapy. Her most recent course work includes Child Development, Abnormal Psychology and Anatomy & Physiology.
Meg is also a founding partner of The Mind-Body Collaborative, a group of professional yoga instructors committed to holistic practices that bridge the connection between mind and body. The instructors provide a safe, fun and inclusive environment for adults and children to explore their inner world and express themselves through movement, sound, breathing and creativity. The Mind-Body Collaborative currently has a parent yoga workshop and children classes available at the Thompson Elementary School in Arlington, MA.
Meg is the mother of four children ranging in age from seven to fifteen. Her experience being a mother helps her teaching abilities in yoga. She is able to relate to many different developmental stages with both boys and girls.
Meg is dedicated to assisting and creating a safe and loving experience for children to explore and reach their potential in a noncompetitive environment.
